Hello schulte, Yes the brushes are included when you order the SV. Hi, Just remove the four screws on the back cover of the tool. Disconnect the two wires and gently pull the motor out and replace it. Hope that helps. Good luck. I recently disassembled my DC for cleaning and ended up having to re-assemble the transmission after it fell on the floor. I managed to re-assemble it, but I have the following problems: 1 There are 4 steel pins leftover.

I read in another thread that they go around a "shift collar" but I don't see where that might be in the transmission. The drill used to "snap" to a stop but now it takes a couple of seconds to wind down. When I tighten the chuck Jacobs , the motor eventually starts turning. My question is, are 2 and 3 related to 1 , and if not, are they at least related to each other?

Is the transmission supposed to prevent the motor from turning when the drill isn't operating? How do I tell if the e-brake problem is in the motor or the switch?

I'm hesitant to take the motor apart but I will if necessary. Thanks in advance, -Jamie. Hi Jamie, Your electric brake is in your switch. When you release the trigger the switch very briefly reverses polarity causing the motor to try to turn backwards, this stops the motor from free spinning. The transmission has no exploded view to look at and the dewalt transmissions have a number of variances in them so with out looking at it I can't tell you much about how to put it together.

Maybe someone else might give you more insight. Sorry I can't do more for you. Hi Dave. Thanks for your reply. Would the self-ratcheting problem also be the switch, or is there something in the transmission that keeps the motor from turning when the chuck is ratcheted?

I actually found a 5th leftover pin I took a few pics of the transmission but unfortunately they are out-of-focus. Well the transmission is really a transmission and clutch in one. Keyless Chuck.
