I've had DVD's and CDs with CRC errors in the past meaning that data can't be read even when a writing process to help insure against it happening called cyclic redundancy is used whereby some data is stored in a couple of places. Sometimes I've been able to get around it by using a different reader.

I've done about 60 Verbatim DL discs in that very same drive without 1 failure. So if your drive fails on those too, RMA it!
But naturally i am challenged with yet another obstacle. When i put the disc in my Xbox , it reads the disc as a DVD. Better yet, i get the message "To play this disc, put it in an Xbox console", gave me a nice laugh tough, despite the waste of 10 bucks for 2 discs already ouch. I tried searching Google i always try to figure things out myself first, i kinda see asking for help as 'cheating' , but once again couldn't find anything particulary useful.

Before i started burning i read as much as i could, set everything up step by step, and triple checked everything. I just checked again just to be sure, and everything is in order. I have no idea why the reads it this way. In the tray-status it simply says 'DVD'.
So it does read it as a DVD, but it gives me the message that normally would appear when trying to read an Xbox game on a PC or something. Your drive only supports those discs at 2. Sorry to be a pain but this forum isn't the place to ask questions about why your disc isn't working in your Obviously 's aren't meant to play backups as standard and we don't talk about anything naughty here!
Well, as far as i know it's not a problem to use a backup of a game as long as you're in possession of the original game. Modding a console is also completely legal.
